My opinion on the issue is that a rational mentality is not some knowledge to be learned, but an attitude. So the most important thing is to have a truth-seeking heart. What we need is to have imagination on very usual things: are the truth we perceived really real? Why should a doctrine be accepted as the truth? Is that sacred thing really associated with God, or is it just a human invention? To be rational is to be a seeker, who eager to seek whether their teachers taught are ture or not.
With this imagination, we can proceed to acquire some new knowledge. Actually what to read depends on your position and interests. If u have a Philosophical background, you may read as Daniel Cheung do. If u have a background in Science, you may wish to read something else. There is no fixed formula. Yet I could still give u some recommendation according to my experience, and you may pick the easiest in the beginning.
For Theological and Philosphical reflection:
FES Press)
John Stott:《
Alister McGrath:《
My personal interest in in Sociology. If u like to reflect on Christianity and Social issues, the followings may be a good start:
Richard Bauckham:《
C. Wright Mills:《
Enjoy reading! :)
