Dear members,
The following seminar has been recommended to me by my cell group leader. At first I felt interested but soon I noticed that the speaker Dr Ravi Zacharias is a famous apologist and I don't have a very good impression on apologists because I think they are too defensive and conservative. In addition, I have not heard of this guy before. May any of you give me some advice as to whether it's worthwhile to attend the seminar. Thanks

School of Humanities
Wealth, Power and Pleasure Christian thought on modern values

Message from School of Humanities
Title of Seminar:
Wealth, Power and Pleasure
Christian thought on modern values

An open forum with
Dr Ravi Zacharias (Wycliffe Hall, Oxford University)
Stuart McAllister (Wycliffe Hall, Oxford University)
Dr John Dickson (Macquarie University)
Moderated by Prof Daniel KL Chua (School of Humanities, HKU)

Wealth, power and pleasure are values that have not only driven Hong Kong
for many years, but are increasingly prized around the modern world. And
why not have it all? Why shouldn?t you aspire to become the next Gates,
Buffet or Soros and use your financial clout to change the world for good.
And isn?t the good life worth pursuing precisely because it is good? Come
hear and question some of the leading scholars on Christian thought as they
tackle these human issues.

Date: Friday 4 September 2009
Time: 7.00-8.30 pm
Venue: Rayson Huang Lecture Theatre, The University of Hong Kong

All Welcome. Admission free.

Ravi Zacharias is a respectable apologist. He is well versed in western literatures and eastern religions (he grew up in India). Unlike many apologists who are usually blunt, his delivery is most eloquent. Even if you don't agree with his position, it's simply a joy listening to him speak. I consider his speech and writing style to be in the tradition of C.S. Lewis.
