I read Okoiti Omtatah's article (Nation, October 13) and was appalled at the writer's ability to marshal his knowledge of the inner workings of the Catholic Church, and his deftness at winding logic to peddle the illogical opinion that the church contradicts itself when it fails to honour the use of condoms.
By preaching abstinence and not self-protection, the church is not guilty. Realism, as Okoiti will agree, is a preserve of the human mind, which operates on the assumption that human beings are capable of thinking logically....
