A few years ago I reminded summer students at Regent College in Vancouver that the proposition "all truth is God's truth" underlies the Christian's educational pursuits. The idea struck a resonant chord, and I am grateful to a fellow-teacher of that summer, Canon Michael Green, for proposing this little book on the subject.

It is addressed not only to students but to thinking people everywhere who wrestle with the relation of Christianity to human learning. It is not primarily a philosophical essay, although it inevitably gets into epistemology. It is primarily an essay on faith and reason, and a summons to rest our intellectuals hopes on the God who revealed himself in Jesus Christ.

Chapters one through four deal with the idea of truth; chapters five through seven with human reason as our means of getting at truth... My concern is that we understand how all the truth and knowledge we can ever gain come from God and bear witness to him..."
