我的現代敬拜讚美體驗

(我剛發現我的一篇力作去年10月獲時代論壇刊登了，特分享於此。)

多年前，我參加一所推動敬拜讚美的機構的同工早禱會，我每週出席三、四次。我當時已返傳統教會十年，對現代敬拜模式存有戒心，只因好友極力邀請才去，怎料就此得著良多，容許我分享一些個人體驗。

詩歌回響會眾心聲
　　一踏進禱告室，眼前一亮，一道落地玻璃，光亮醒神，外望一幢幢樓宇，好得很，我們正是為城市裡面的人守望祈禱。再看，沒有座椅，大家赤腳跪在地氈上，好，我初信主時就自發跪在床前禱告，沒甚麼大不了，姑且看看這裡如何禱告。

　　同工們的禱告和唱詩十分懇切，有時高聲懇求，不多冷場，一人禱告，眾聲回應。我們教會的習慣是輕聲、理性、平靜地祈禱，連唱詩也是輕聲的，我本應不習慣如此活躍的場面的，還加上對該機構信仰的懷疑，我本應不適應的，但出乎意料之外，我初時保持警覺，間中暗暗地張開眼觀察，開動理性分析的頭腦，不久便感到適然，這不正是理想的祈禱會嗎？十年傳統教會祈禱經驗裡正正缺乏的就是這裡有的，我心雀躍，於是連續頻密參加早禱會數月，不惜佔用休息時間，忘記身體疲乏，樂於禱告，因人人有心，我也陳詞迫切，不要誤會，我們大部分時間是為別人祈禱，遠至世界各地各民族，福音廣傳、遍地復興是我們的目標，提起就興奮。自己心中所想所求，正是身旁的人所想所求，怎會畏縮怕人聽見？詩歌之意正是全場人的心聲，人人熱情地流露愛主之情、事主之心意，我又怎會不敢放聲唱呢？如果是為滿足自己，我寧願選擇高床軟枕，沉醉夢鄉，多睡一會，因為這段時間我實在睡眠不足。就這樣我漸漸學會在眾人禱告敬拜中只看見主耶穌，專心敬拜祂。(請 click 連結看全文)

I wrote something on worship music today in 2006...

...Writing my final paper for the History of Christian Music Tradition class on the highlighted debate on worship music today. In fact, this is such a hugh topic that I can write a few dictionary-thick books on if there is enough time. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I don't have such time at the moment. It is not mysterious that the aim of Christian assembly should be a truth-based worship rather than entertainment-based worship. However, the current popularity of "seeker-friendly" services sometimes leads to entertainment-content of Christian gatherings being increased at the expense of truth-content. Many Christian "worship services" can now more accurately be described as "entertainment sessions" or "religious concerts".

True worship must always be our response to God - not our response to the band or the worship-leaders. The songs we use should remind us the charactor and acts of the wonderful God we worship so that we can respond in true worship and praise to Him alone. In order to acheive this, our songs must be true to Scripture and doctrinally accurate. Songs for Christian worship should be specifically Christian and give reasons to praise. Some contemporary "worship songs" are so vague doctrinally that Mormons or Moslems could happily use them. For example, many contemporary praise songs say little more than that, "God is awesome and we should praise Him." I suppose every Mormons and Moslems would agree with this. Moreover, even if the actual words of the Bible are set to music, we should be careful that they are not taken out of context. We must worship in Spirit and Truth. We should be excited by God's truth, not by the powerful rhythms of contemporary band music.

A strong contemporary band and a skilled worship-leader can sometimes become so important and essential to worshippers that they can actually prevent us to truely worship God. They can be a barrier between people and God. People who sing for long periods because there is a great band or a famous worship-leader are responding to the power of the band, or to the skill of the worship-leader, rather than responding to God alone. Their bodies and minds become addicted to the heavy rhythms, and they are aware of nothing else. God becomes superfluous in their "worship".

Things are more complicated than I presented above of course. But we must understand and remember always that the focus of our worship should always be God alone and nothing else. We should worship the Creator of music (God) rather than worshiping the created music...

YES!! sometimes..ppl are just enjoying the music itself,not worshiping God. And some traditional church are TOO traditional to accept contemporary christian music.

YES!! sometimes..ppl are just enjoying the music itself,not worshiping God. And some traditional church are TOO traditional to accept contemporary christian music.
