馬太福音第一章的家譜

讀啟導本時的幾個小發現,相信很多人都知道的了

· 三個「十四代」是故意為之的。其實從亞伯拉罕到耶穌並不只有四十二代,中間有很多人並沒有列名。「生」字恐不能作父子關係解。

· 啟導本的說法是,「十四」是大衛王的數字。因為希伯來字母亦可作數字,而大衛名字中的三個字音:d, w, d加起來是十四(d=4, =6)。十四代的分法便於記憶,也突顯王族血統(?!)。

· 十六節說「那稱為耶穌的基督,是從馬利亞生的」(和合本),是在強調約瑟不是耶穌的生父。

· 還有很多其多細節,記不了那麼多。哈哈。

The target audience of Matthew is the Jews. So Matthew prefered to quote verses from the Old Testimony to show that Jesus is the Messiah. But, it seems to me that some of the quotes are out of context. Does anybody here know how to deal with this problem?

Example:
Matthew 2:23
So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets: "He will be called a Nazarene."

關於out of context的問題,有兩個考慮。
1. 第二聖殿時期的釋經有時就是這樣子的,但近來愈來研究發現他們很多時都不是解釋某一段經文,而是詮釋一個故事。所以一些過去被認為是out of context的地方,可能是有一定理由的。這是最近一些箸重narrative sub-structure的研究的貢獻。就是保羅的書信都發現有舊約故事的narrative substructure。馬太的引文有一些也有人發現出其sub-structure。
2. 另一種當時時尚的解釋是"基督目的論",以耶穌基督來解釋舊約,而不是以舊約本來的故事來解釋耶穌。這就等如要先確定並實踐一個早期的高等基督論high christology。馬太既然把耶穌看成新摩西,新出埃及,新大衛,所以他在許多平常看不出意義的地方也在這種基督目的論下便看到關係。

這兩種解釋都可以找到第二聖殿時期的其他群體的例子來印證,是有當時的歷史文化作為支持的。

除了有學者估計是大衛的希伯來名字的數值外,另有估計十四代是代表七的雙倍:2 x 7

三次的十四代的三是否majestic three? 雖然家譜省略了至少四代,明顯地作者在強調三次的十四代。有人認為3代表靈界的數字。

數字的解釋可看Bauckham, The Climax of Prophecy. Edinburgh: T & T Clark, 1993. 這本書是討論啟示錄的解釋方法,數字的解釋一章值得一看。

馬太的家譜在原文的次序是先題大衛,再題亞伯拉罕。

家譜的句子組織通常是:a生b,b生c
但有些地方是a從b生c
這b是家譜中出現的女性。
最特別的是16節:a生b,就是c的丈夫,那稱為d,是從c生的。似乎強調了d是c的後裔 (創3:15 女人的後裔)。而此後裔非從b而來。

單指這節經文而已,啟導本說了幾個可能性。一是出於以賽亞11:1裡提到的嫩條的「條」字的希伯來發音與拿撒勒的希臘發音相近(!? );一是當時的人看不起拿撒勒,故應驗了以賽亞53章說祂會備受藐視的預言.....;也有說拿撒勒就是舊約中的拿細耳..........

單是一個家譜便這麼複雜.........暈....... :p
